Our High Commission in Port of Spain

Main entrance of BHC Port of Spain

Welcome to the British High Commission, Port of Spain

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland has an overseas network of 233 diplomatic missions.  The British High Commission in Port of Spain is one of several missions in the Caribbean and covers both islands of the twin island state of Trinidad and Tobago.  While our office is based in the capital, Port of Spain, we are supported by an Honourary Consul in Tobago who contributes to our consular work to protect British nationals there.

Our office in Port of Spain offers consular assistance to British Nationals and can deal with general queries. All applications for British passports have to be processed by our Consular Section at our office in Port of Spain.  Details may be found in the passports and help for British nationals sections of this website.

Our UK Trade and Investment Section works to promote trade between the UK and Trinidad and Tobago, and to encourage investment in the UK.

The Press and Public Affairs Officer (PPAO) is responsible for presenting and promoting Britain and British Government policy. This involves liaising with partners such as the British Council.  The PPAO is the main point of contact for the media.

Political Relations are the responsibility of our Chancery. This department takes the leading role in promoting Britain's national interests to host governments, ensuring that Britain's views are represented to the local Government. This is to ensure that Britain and Trinidad and Tobago can work as closely together as possible in pursuit of our common goals.
